In 2002, the cities of Sainte-Foy and Sillery were combined into a borough of Quebec City. Following the partition of the Laurentian borough in 2009, the former city of Cap-Rouge and the neighbourhoods of Chauveau and Champigny joined together to form the borough as it is known today. It covers an area of 95 km2, which represents a little over 20% of the territory of Quebec City and makes it the second largest borough. It includes four electoral districts: Cap-Rouge-Laurentien, Pointe-de-Sainte-Foy, Plateau and Saint-Louis-Sillery.
